Tree With Split

This looks at it's best when clicked and seen enlarged
I tend to take a lot of tree pictures
I was out walking this afternoon with Tom from 'Wiggers World' so watch out for some pictures from this walk on both blogs. We both got some great pictures of trees and fungi.

That is an interesting tree. I bet if that tree could talk it could tell some stories, like two guys coming along taking pictures of it.

In the lower part of the trunk, where the bark is gone, it looks like a young coyotes face

I wonder what happened to that. At first I thought lightening but if that was it then it must have happened a long time ago. Do you have any idea what caused this? It makes an interesting photo.

Hi Abe,
When Peter took this and we down loaded it we discussed what could have caused it, We came to think maybe lightening to, there is another branch to the left that as gone as well. The splits normally indicate lightening. There's quite a few others in this area that take an hit now and then...

The tree is amazing. But so is the distance, on the left of the photo. Look at those mellow colors!

The colors are fantastic, Peter. Is that light I see shining through?
