The Whooper swans seen here is a large white swan. It has a long thin neck, which it usually holds erect, and black legs. It is mainly a winter visitor to the UK from Iceland, although a couple of pairs nest in the north.
Both these pictures are taken on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire near to Blackpool. I find the peace of this beach works wonders for my health. Who could not benefit from all this fresh sea air away from the hustle and bustle of towns and cities.

May I wish all Sky Watch Friday visitors a good healthy weekend where ever you may be. I thank you for your visit and your comments. I am filled with gratitude by your kind words about my pictures and I thank you all.

this black and white photo is my favourite, extreemly beautiful...
What can I say Peter.. both of these are so good.. but for me the Black & White just blew me away when I saw it... I will have this one framed and hung on my wall..

The black and white photo looks as if you're at the end of the earth.
I echo quintarantino's comment about the texture in the photo - I really love this one - very soothing to love at!
It amazes me how much water can look like sand in the right light! These are beautiful. God bless.
Very beautiful pics, The BW one is amazing. Good work.
They take my breath away! Don't know which I like the best...I am normally a very big B & W fan and they will usually win, yet not against sunsets/sunrises.
Amazing the photographs. First is most excellent from colours, subject, frame and prospect.
Super skies Pete.
What a beautiful photo.
I can imagine walking along this beach with my dog.
Thanks for posting.

I love the first one!The colours are so brilliant and the birds add the perfect finish to it. And the b&w one is so unique, the texture looks quite lovely and gives the image a totally different feel.

Both shots are beautiful!
Black$White or colourfull, the idea is very important!!

I love both these pictures - both the vibrancy of the colour in the first with the blackness of the swans flying across AND the starkness of the b&w of the second. You're so right about the sea air! :D
both are beautiful but that last one with the ripples on the sea is so tranquil
Beautiful sky and great shots.
Wishing you a nice weekend! :)
Both your pictures are beautiful but the black and white one is superb.
Newbie here..I love both but the black and white is my favorite.
Beautiful photos...I have a lot to learn!
I would find peace there too .. lovely shots
I love the colored photo. Spectacular!
Beautiful pictures. I like the picture of the flock, looking rather small against the sky.
Spectacular
WOW! Both photos are absolutely amazing!
I can't choose a favorite between the two, because they are both great. I agree with quintarantino - the texture of the water in the second shot is so unique!
The B&W is very nice but I like the first one more, a wonderful view.
WOW! well done:D
You find my SWF post here
Just called back and read the comments here...
The B & W picture shows the pattern and texture of the sand when the tide goes out. If you scroll down the page Peter as more pictures of this sand texturing. It makes for great pictures.

Very nice pictures, but i wonder.... Here in Norway we say ; "free as the bird"..., but in a way they also live in a sertan comunity. Don`t you think?
Lovely weekend to you from Norway.
I agree with Quint...I like the texture on the black and white photo...very cool.

Very Beautiful!!!
Very nice photos, Peter, especially the black & white.
I have to add that I love the photos below of Defor! Some dog!!
That black and white photo is stunning. I have just started experimenting with that look myself. Very nicely done.
Interesting color. And the black and white is just stunning.
The first one is hot. The second one is cold, as the water should be. Beautiful extension of land/beach. Both shots are very beautiful.
they were mute swans in my blog:)
