Sky Watch Friday

The Whooper swans seen here is a large white swan. It has a long thin neck, which it usually holds erect, and black legs. It is mainly a winter visitor to the UK from Iceland, although a couple of pairs nest in the north.
Both these pictures are taken on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire near to Blackpool. I find the peace of this beach works wonders for my health. Who could not benefit from all this fresh sea air away from the hustle and bustle of towns and cities.
..................................

May I wish all Sky Watch Friday visitors a good healthy weekend where ever you may be. I thank you for your visit and your comments. I am filled with gratitude by your kind words about my pictures and I thank you all.

The black and white photo looks as if you're at the end of the earth.
I echo quintarantino's comment about the texture in the photo - I really love this one - very soothing to love at!

It amazes me how much water can look like sand in the right light! These are beautiful. God bless.

They take my breath away! Don't know which I like the best...I am normally a very big B & W fan and they will usually win, yet not against sunsets/sunrises.

I love the first one!The colours are so brilliant and the birds add the perfect finish to it. And the b&w one is so unique, the texture looks quite lovely and gives the image a totally different feel.

I love both these pictures - both the vibrancy of the colour in the first with the blackness of the swans flying across AND the starkness of the b&w of the second. You're so right about the sea air! :D

both are beautiful but that last one with the ripples on the sea is so tranquil

WOW! Both photos are absolutely amazing!

I can't choose a favorite between the two, because they are both great. I agree with quintarantino - the texture of the water in the second shot is so unique!

Just called back and read the comments here...
The B & W picture shows the pattern and texture of the sand when the tide goes out. If you scroll down the page Peter as more pictures of this sand texturing. It makes for great pictures.

The first one is hot. The second one is cold, as the water should be. Beautiful extension of land/beach. Both shots are very beautiful.
