MANCHESTER STORM

I was taking pictures of the mill, when I noticed a storm front moving towards Manchester City Center some 8 miles in the distance. My first thoughts we not 'What good pictures these will make'.. but 'Another Sky Watch post in the bag'.
......
As some of you know already I do not have my own PC and Tom hosts this one for me, I do however get the chance now and then to visit your blogs and see your picture... thank you for visiting here and commenting... I appreciate you all putting up with this one sided blog arrangement and thank you all

Walking the old train route from Hadfield

Defor gets to run good run here, there's plenty of rabbits for him to chase which is good exercise for him, not that he needs it with the miles he covers with me.

Just a dusting of snow on top of the moors

One of the old train bridges

All the bridges and more besides are made from local quarried stone. The edges are dressed simply like this on many buildings, some of the farms have big gate posts made many years before these and the edges are dressed the same. Maybe it's a long lost local traditions I've ask about but no one seems to know.. Any ideas.

Folly

Whats A Folly

In architecture, a folly is an extravagant, frivolous or fanciful building, designed more for artistic expression than for practicality.
In other words someone with money faniced having something unusual built for the fun of it... this one is within walking distance from Hyde town centre.

Goblin Manor 1860

Who lives in a house like this ?

I am always happy to come across something a bit unusual, Goblin Manor is just such a thing. I saw this last week while out with a friend, I made him stop the car while I took these. He laughed when I got back in the car as he'd been driving that road many years and not noticed. Sometimes just looking is not seeing if you know what I mean.
