Spot The Birdy

The red grouse is a medium-sized game bird. It has a plump body, a short tail and a lightly hook-tipped bill. It is reddish-brown, with its legs and feet covered in pale feathers.

The best place to see this bird is on upland heather moors, when it suddenly rockets up from the heather when disturbed to fly off with fast-whirring wingbeats. I will try for a close up as soon as I get a chance.

These stone fences are just the greatest! I never get tired of seeing them. I spotted the grose but had to enlarge the picture. He's really camouflaged.
Pete: The Grouse really matches the cover in the area. It blended in even though it was on the wall.
Nice post Pete.
I found it on the rock wall. Grouse is very good eating if you are into that sort of thing.
Love your river posts, in fact this is a very nice blog. MB
Beautiful photos, Peter. And the narrative informative too.
You can thank your lucky stars that you don't have a computer as you would not and probably should not read my post for today. It is gross.
Tomorrow will be OK. Patty took that picture with my magic camera.
